Tires on 2015 2500

I have a 2015 2500 Silverado with a Rough Country 2” leveling kit on the front with stock rims.  Right now I’m running 285/65/r20 BFGs with no problems.  It’s time to get new tires.  I stopped by the tire shop and they talked me into ordering Cooper Discoverer MTP 35x12.50s  and said it would just need a little trimming.  I read some other posts on here that had some good info, but can’t find it now.  Am I screwing up by getting that size tire with my set up?  I’m not looking to get a big lift right or new wheels but would like to get a tire that fills up the wheel well more and sticks out a little more.

i'm glad I saw your post, I just ordered 285's and 20x9 rims for my 19 Denali 2500HD and a 2" leveling kit. I did tons of research on here and am glad to see your set up worked!  What size did you end up going with, the 35's?

What a fiasco.  The 35’s came in and they sent 2 of one type and 2 of another.  I was pretty upset, but for the trouble they “upgraded” me to Nitto Trail Grapplers in a 34x11.50 if I recall and told me I had 30 days to bring them back cause I wasn’t real sure on them.  They said I wouldn’t have to trim at all with them and they wouldn’t rub.  They did rub and I hated them!  I expected a rougher ride, less life and less fuel economy but it was a LOT less fuel economy.  It did look pretty cool.  On the 29th day I called them up and swapped back to new version of what I had before.  No rubs, long life, and decent fuel economy.  20 year old me would’ve kept them and probably ended up with a lift - 40 year old me will stick with the better fuel economy and a leveling kit.
