Rounded off Brake Bleeder screw

Yea they rust a lot quicker up in Canada! The underbody on my truck is pretty good. Not a lot of rust. I’m just hoping I can get the old bleeder out and not snap it off in the caliper. Did you by chance use any of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000QW6K8I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_UUz7BbN42NCRY?

I have had great luck with them in the past.

Thanks for posting this. I’m picking up a set. This is the second time these have been recommended. I’m about to tackle removing my exhaust manifold bolts and hear this is the only way to go.

Was able to get the bleeders out using the socket I posted earlier!

Now I have a spongy brake pedal [emoji25]!

Are you bleeding they system solo, or do you have a helper? 

 

If the peddle is spongy, did you try driving it around the block to see if it firms up? 

 

You can also activate the ABS on gravel or grass, to help "settle" the brake system after bleeding. 

 

I just bled mine today, and afterwards, the peddle felt terrible. Super mushy, and would "relax" if I held pressure on it. 

 

I drove it up the road, and activated the ABS by letting the right wheels leave the pavement and pressing the brakes aggressively. 

 

Now they are super responsive, and the peddle is very solid. 

 

Maybe its equalizing the proportioning valve? Not sure why it works, but I have had great success doing this on several Chevys.

I ended up bleeding the rear brakes again. All is well now. The brakes feel like factory now.
