2001 Silverado ABS Module problem

2001 Silverado got the common ABS module problem making the pump run continually.  I unplug the module for a few weeks before I get another one from a pull a part salvage yard.  Install module and now the truck starts and immediately shuts down.  Unplug module and truck starts as it should. I have searched and searched and cannot find anyone with the same problem.  I checked fuses and unhooked battery for an hour... Bad module? 

 

I did not check part numbers but modules look identical. Donor truck was 2004 (I believe).  Counted pins on main connector and they all match. Both 2WD, 1500, 4 wheel disc.

Sounds like the "new" module has a shorted 5v reference, and is pulling the reference to 0v.

 

Unrelated to this, is your security light on or flashing in the cluster?
