3/5 Drop (2017 Silverado)

Looking at doing a 3/5 drop on my 2017 Silverado short bed standard cab.

Any suggestion or information on experiences on doing this would be helpful.

2wd? Bell tech or McGaughys. are great kits. I will say read up on them because there are different ways to do it and options on the kits. In my opinion get all new drop shocks and in the front collars, that way you can rise and lower the truck as you like. In the rear a flip and new rear mounts.

*NOTE* check pinon angles. even factory trucks had a bulletin to add a shim. And the kits have a trans mount spacer. Then check driveshaft play and clearance to the floor pan.

Any questions just post or ask the forum suspension pro........NASTY.......But Im sure he will post in here soon.....

As said about, get as many adjustable components as possible. Belltech and McGraughy with the adjustable struts in the front will allow you to add or take away from ride height as you wish. The rear flip is needed to achieve what you want and I also recommend the shims and spacer. The best thing you can do is contact the supplier and have them help you with a kit.

If you are creative you can do other stuff. I ran the belltech front springs on stock struts for a 2" drop. I then put the strut under the control arm and got a 3 1/2 +/- drop but I did not like it without my rear being flipped. Do some research and order smartly.

Will you be driving as a daily or are you thinking about hitting the track in the truck?

I just did my 16 regular cab last month and went with Mcgaughys 34270 and I couldn't be any happier. At first I went 4/7 but was to low and rubbed so went to 3/6 and now its perfect. I took over a year to actually pull the trigger on a kit but am happy that I went with Mcgaughys.

Maybe people should post truck pics. Also I feel 6 and over you need a rear air bag. But tire size matters most I cant possibly think how bad my truck would be any lower my tires are 33" tall and 12" wide. They just rub on big bumps. And rear is a removed overload spring. On hard take off the tire rubbed the rear fender.

6" doesnt need helpers. 7 doesnt either but needs a bump stop and you will almlat ride on it. Im at a 4.5/7 right now. Im using thr mcg kit with belltech bump stops.   Ithink it rides good but ive also driven lowered trucks since i got my license so what i think is a good ride you might not think is

Either belltech or mcg woth spindles with fine. Just but a few size pinion shims. Youll be fine on stock size tired since you have a regular cab

Get some good rear shocks.  Just not the belltech sp unless you want the back stiffer

Ido recomend the belltech bump stop as its a spongy material

I must need the help because of the rim and tire size. It hit the fender bad. I will post pic tomorrow.

I haven't looked but what other stock location shocks are there. And what is your opinion on lower shock mount relocation brackets?

*****IN MY OPINION JUST BUT THE CAM PLATES NOW****** you alignment guy and your check book will thank you. It is said to not always be needed but I needed them and that means the front a arms need to be unbolted revolted and realigned. All for like $50 part... screw that alignment cost more than that.

And if I was going it again I would buy new aftermarket u bolts and nuts. Factory arnt as strong and have lower spec. Lots of opinions on this but said to replace every time you unbolt and then they are torque to yield. When aftermarket are stronger and normal torque down to a higher value. Also the threads are longer.

Maybe I have more of a drop then I think I do. 2 3/4" gap from top of tires to fender.
Tires are d9000 295/30/24. Hard to find specs but when I did said it is 33" tall and 12 wide. Rims are 24 by 12. 722956355867dfb286ef9f0ba99dc320.jpgdaebce56e801a932de9cfc533b983f6c.jpg5aecedd88604342fd69670e633c04bf0.jpgd07ea3daac58663180d23e9fdaf4cbda.jpg

A 295 30 24 is 31" tall

I'm trying to get 22x10 with a 305 tire but this has me worried.
And I cant find Denali ultimate wheels in 10 wide. Only 9

10 wide wont tuck specially on a sierra because of those fender guard things. I personally wouldn't go any wider than a 9.5 with +30 offset and even then id still probably want a 9 wide wheel

as long as I can run 305 and i like the 40 side wall but that is rated at 12.20" wide. the 45 side wall is a 11.85". From what I see there is NO 22x10 rim in denali ultimate style. only 22x9 and that limits tire options. Nitto 420S. Ideally if it would just not squat so far the tire is fine.

What shocks (in stock location) do you like? I have had QAL on some of my cars. I'm sure there are some better options. And do you or did you run the lower shock extensions. Thing I may just buy them.

Add more air in thr bags then. Because theres no way to have a 305/40 not make contact with the fender unless you narrow the axle.
