"holy poop" good.did you see the ratings? add back drivetrain loss and that car is making 256, as it says on the page. The new ones are rated at 260, And they are bigger, heavier.

Heheh, I guess you're just a bit behind, they've been building those cars essentially unchanged since model year 1997. The 97-03 Regal GS is basically the same car too.

 

Definitely nice cars though, and I think the 97-03 look way better than the 04's.

no, no, not that

 

97-03, they are only rated for 240(Series II 3.8), but dyno's show plently more!!

 

for 04, they have a next gen S/C and the Series III 3.8, with raises it to 260.

 

Of course the 04's have Comp-G available, which may be worth pay the extra for the new style.......

Uhh, they are (or that particular model year) rated at 240hp.

 

240 x .85 = 204 estimated fwhp. So I'd say that 199 is right in the ballpark of where it SHOULD be.

 

The .85 could be a little more or a little less, but nonetheless, I think it's right where it should be for the *advertised* rating GM gives it. Nothing spectacular when you have stock 02 LS1's doing 315+ rwhp.

 

But really all the GTP's and Regal GS's are is a good chip, exhaust and a pulley away from consistent high 13 to low 14 sec cars.
