Lift advice

Recommended Posts

I have never done a lift before and am about to do all four shocks and was thinking what the hell? The truck could use a little more height and am looking at a 2 to 3 inch lift. My big question is, when looking at kits, what do I need to check to ensure everything is properly done to keep driving characteristics as close to possible? The truck in question is a 2001 Silverado 1500 ext cab rwd 5.3 V8. Would it being a side step truck make a difference?

If I remember correctly Rough Country is a knock off of Tuff Country. We use both Tuff Country and Fabtech at my work. They just have better quality parts. My Assistant Manager has the Fabtech Dirt Logic lift kit if I remember right and his truck just glides like stock. One of a customers had the Rough Country and when he drove my Assistant Managers truck he said it was a huge difference in ride quality. Its really up to you what you go with but you get what you pay for.

After reading around I have ordered the Fabtech 3 inch lift. If I read correctly it's a 3" lift in the front and a 2" lift in the back. While I would prefer to keep the rake, I only tow once or twice a year. Thanks for yalls help and I'll be sure to post before and after pictures when I get it and install.
