QUADRASTEER tire size question

I was talking with the service mgr at the dealership and we got to talking about the quadrasteer and they had a customer who bought a QS truck and wanted larger tires and GM said that the parts in the QS weren't designed to turn larger tires and would break and any repairs would not be covered under warranty. I would check for myself before I spent the $$$ on a QS truck.

That is not true. There was an article in one of the the truck magazines I get, it may have been Petersons, that showed a behind the scenes of GM testing the new Quadrasteer application on lifted Silverado with larger mud tires on it. In the article they stated that they wanted to design a durable Quadrasteer system. I think the dealers as usual are trying to make up reasons to void warranties.... :)

I saw that article as well. The truck had a 6" lift with a set of 315s. They were beating the crap out of it from the pictures.

With the factory offset, 35s are about as big as you can go, with a lift. When I turn the rear wheels, they are pretty close to the real leafs. With a different offset, I'm sure you could go bigger.

Is that the same article that they bent the crap out of the tierods?

I would get the straight axle myself....

Sweet looking truck you have there 1500cc! Very nice... :)

There was another magazine that tested a 3/4 ton suburban where the did manage to break one of the rear tie rod ends. May have been a fluke happening or the broke it while wheeling...

hey guys, yeah i have seen QS trucks with big wheels but like most cars you have to give it a minimum 4 inch lift so the leafs plus fenders wont scrape.

btw im new here im just wondering how do i get to all the QS related topics??

With the Quadrasteer option- can you go any larger in tire size or are you limited to the 245 tire?

I have Hummer 2 wheel/tires with a 6" and a lift kit from 4 wheel parts. and 4.11 rear end, no problems. see quadrasteer club for lots of info.

haha, break the quadrasteer thats funny. It's a dana 60 axle, I don't think your gonna break it running 285s or even 35s. I've personally used a K2500 burban to pull a 10K lb boat w/ 285s and no turning issues even stopped.

Limited to the 245's? The Denali comes stock with 265 on 17's. I'm running 285's with absolutely no problems. like Montecarlo indicated, it's a Dana 60 axle.
