Need info on exhausts

Hey guys,

I have a 03 1/2 ton with a 5.3 and I'm looking to get a exhaust system. A buddy of mine has a Tundra with Flowmaster 40s on it but that just sounds way too droney for me. I'm looking for a sound like that but one that is crisper and smoother. Performance wise, I'm looking for a increase in hp w/o the loss of torque. I read somewhere in this forum, that some guys lost a little bit of low end after they got their exhausts put on. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have tried a few on the 1/2 ton excabs short bed. The flowmaster kit was droney like you said and the tips were a bit whimpy. They also were so close to the bottm of the bumper that they melted the plastic. The B&B triflo had the best sound but was a bit too pricey. The gibson stainless was ok at first but has rusted out in 9 months. The dyno max was horrible at the 1700 rpm range. The Borla is an awesome kit all around but costs a bit more. The best kit I think is the slp kit, all stainless even clamps and hangers easy install and had the best sound..old muscle car

this was on 3 different truck with 3 different guys, myself included, got sweet deal thru www.tbyrne.com

I have heard good things about magnaflow and corsa. What ever you decide, go stainless when possible

The SLP truck setup is just like the Loudmouth setup for the F-body I think. Corsa sounds good but it is raspy like Borla. I myself would go with the Borla cat-back over Corsa. Sound is still nice on both. Isnt aluminized mandrel bent tubing the best way to go? I did also hear that Magnaflows stuff is pretty nice. If you want, dump your cats. The LS1 makes more HP with little to no backpressure. I can throw down 14 more HP with my cut-out open. I know it will make a code or two pop up. Nothing that O2 sims or LS1Edit cant solve. I think I had to disable 2 different codes to get my SES light to stay off. But hey, it made more HP. Anyway, its just a thought.

the slp loudmouth is just a resontor the SLP 31050 kit for the truck is a single muffler 1 in 2 out and sounds completely different
