running board differences-gas vs diesel Crew cab

I see that there is a different part number for OEM running boards for crew cab trucks with/without diesel engines.  I assume there is something to work around the DEF tank on the pass side, but thought someone would know. 

 

Asking due to the fact that a friend has a set of what I am looking for, but they are for gas version.  Thought is that I could buy them and modify and save some money....assuming there isn't a big difference.

Bracket at the DEF tank is shorter, only difference.

 

if you are tuned and deleted, then gas version bolts right up.
