Zone Trim Plates

Recently installed 33x12.50r22's on my 15' Silverado on a -25 offset. Did a lot of research for months. Many said no rub and my tire guy said it's a problem.  Mine rubbed enough to not be fully functional and require 3 and 4 point turns in a parking lot. I can tell you it IS NOT plug and play to bolt on this wheel set up (less offset and you maybe OK). Knew I would probably have to cut and trim plastic and maybe metal. Zone released some trim plates that give at least another 5/8ths clearance and looked pretty clean  vs just a straight norcal cut. They were pretty cheap and the install was not bad just you need either a cut-off wheel or Sawzall to trim the metal.

 

At first I just trimmed the plastic piece and that made an improvement, but still rubbed enough to not be happy with leaving it that way. (1st image)

With just the plastic trim it still hit towards the outside of the well (you can see the torx screw is polished by the tire).

 

Next was the cutting and trimming (3rd & 4th pics)

 

Cut extra on the drivers side because that is where most of the issue was even though both sides rubbed at the back of the wells.

Broke some of the factory clips and have since replaced them (broken in the pics) had to hammer parts here and there. Clearanced the outside torx screw mounting to press it in where it was hitting. Can still cleanup the look some here and there but from the outside looking at the truck it is not noticeable that there was mods and only someone who is looking for it would notice.

 

It still rubs on the part circled in yellow (just very light buffing at full lock - I have full turning radius) the part circled in red is where it hit initially, now it is not a problem. (trying to upload the final product.)

 

There is still room to gain some more space too if need be, so yes there is some more meat on the table if you need to cut more.

I used the trim plates as well to clear 305/65r18 on a -12 offset. Tires are 33.6x12.2. They look great and I have no rubbing. Great product

I bought & installed the plates too but i'm only running 285/55/20s... no more rubbing!

finished passengers side looks clean, I trimmed more on the driver's out of necessity. Also added on sheet metal screw to the lower part of the plate to press the liner back some. The liner is still setting off the body sheet metal, so there is gains to be had there also.

 

So overall these work  pretty well, worth the $ IMHO. And it's not maxed out meaning there is still some clearance to be gained if you need it (modding more than just what the kit offers). That said you would be hard pressed to run anything much larger than a 33" wheel on just a level. Mine is worse cause I'm running a -25 offset. Maybe on a zero offset or factory wheel you could probably run a 34". I wanted to run a 285/55r22 but on a negative offset that would be pushing it.  I don't know how these guys run 12 wide -44's (not that I want to) just can't see how that would even work. Bottom line is  if you need to trim these are a viable option
