What shortblocks can I use for my 09 LY5 AFM Non VVT?

Motor has 300k on it and looking for a replacement to drop in when this one craps out. Not wanting to pay 3k for a reman longblock if I don’t have to, would like to pick up a shortblock and use my heads. I’m ok with rebuilding a shortblock myself if it’ll save me some money, just want to make sure I’m not missing something as far as compatability. I believe any 07-12 shortblock will work. Can anybody tell me any different?  I know to stay away from the front wheel drive one.

You have a few options both long and short block but this seems like the best deal.

Short Block

While your at it order another $485 in AFM delete parts and have a nice runner.

I saw those. I keep checking that delete kit out too, I lost #4 intake lifter about 20k ago. I know I cheaped  out but I just replaced the one and not the other three and had her back on the road the next day for about$150. It’s worked so far, knock on wood. It’s going to wind up being a choice between a reman shortblock or a 100k mile complete salvage yard motor. Looks like you come out about the same in the end

You can use any LY5, LMG, LC9 motor from 2007-2009 as they do not have VVT.

The link above will give you the block numbers used for the LC9, but check the year or watch for the VVT hardware.  Do the same for the other motors.
