Towing comparisons

I currently drive a 2011 Sierra Crew Cab SLT 4WD 5.3L with tow package. as it sits rated for 9500lbs towing. Looking at a 2017 Sierra 1500 4WD Denali 6.2L( rated 9100lbs Tow). I do not want to loose anything with towing my travel trailer. Right now my 2011 tows it fine as long as not too windy or hills. Also looked at 2015 2500 with 6.0L 4WD. What differences should I or could I expect with the 2 -1500's . Will the 6.2L 8 speed perform similar to the 5.3L 6 speed.

The 6.2 will pull better than the 5.3 due to it simply having more power. While the 5.3 and 6.0 are nearly identical engine wise the 2500 will handle the trailer weight a lot better and will pull better because of the gearing.  Either truck will be better than your current.

On the K2 trucks, and really any generation, you'll get better towing capacity with a 2WD setup with a V8 and good rear end gear. I'd nix the idea of a 4x4 unless you really think you need it.

I went from an 09 Silverado with 5.3 to a 15 Sierra 6.2 with the Max trailering package. It tows worlds better.
