steveo2155 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Looking at purchasing a 05 Silverado. In pretty good shape with minimal rust minus rust hole at bottom of rear extended cab door surrounded by paint bubbling/breaking. What is the best way to go about fixing this since the bottom of the door has been eaten away by rust? Or would it be easier to find a used door and have it painted to match? It is two tone black/pewter. Quote
dsr611 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Probably be easier and cheaper to find a donor door than repair the current door Quote
davester Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Yeah, I've had good luck periodically hitting up local junkyards until I find one that's the right color to match the truck, when I've had damaged panels. But even if you can't find one the right color, it'll still be cheaper and faster (ie, minimal truck downtime) to just paint the whole door, then swap it on the truck afterwards. Quote
steveo2155 Posted May 15, 2019 Author Posted May 15, 2019 And you think a body shop wouldn't have a problem painting a new door to blend in with the two tone paint? Quote
