code scan reader

I have a Scan Gauge II in my 2002 Silverado.  Works great and I can read 4 different parameters at a time.  I keep transmission temp, instant mpg, oil life, and oil psi.  I'm sure it would work in the 2019's.

Those are good code readers because they do ABS and SRS systems. I'd get one if I needed one like that.

They become about $100-150 more when you want both of those systems, as the regular scanner is about $100 on sale.

If this is a truck you are going to keep for some time, and particularly if you are going to work on it yourself (at least, what you can), I would suggest getting something more advanced, like Autogenuity w gm enhancement, or something like it, that can read codes from all the computers in your truck, as well as perform a variety of diagnostic procedures.  I bought it for use with my truck, and it helped me with figuring out why the engine wasn't running well (via live data, as well as performing an injector leakdown test), and bleeding the abs system after I replaced my brake lines.
