I'm going back home this weekend, so I will try to get more pictures as we hit full swing. Started Golden Delicious on Monday, and will start Red's in about a week.

 Nice. My dream truck is a 1979 Kenworth W900 with the 60" sleeper. I would love to finde one and do a full restoration on it.. Of course, I would need the time and money also.

Just curious our neighbor has a double trailer rig and his max weight is 105500 i think thats the max weight here.

Or did you guys register it low ?

I think that's my error. Sould be 105,500 lbs. We never get close enough to the max to worry about it. Want to keep a little bit of a cushion there so the truck makes it through harvest. It's coming up on 2,250,000 miles. Besides, with all the crazies driving on the roads these days, we figure that 3000 lb less might be the difference between life or death for the Metro that just pulled out infront of you.:cool:

No kidding. Had some crazy asswipe cut the Ranger off on Friday. She then proceeded to fly through a red light nearly hitting a Taurus that had the right of way. She was driving some ratty old Corolla.

Yeah, some crazy ones out there. I wasn't gonna tell this story, but I will anyway.......

Last year, I was hauling empty bins home back to the orchard. As I prepared to make the right turn into the driveway, I swung out so that I was straddling the center line (necessary because 64' of trailer has a tendancy to cheat). As I initiated my turn, my mirror caught the image of a Ford Taurus hard on the throttle, trying to beat me on the ride side. I slammed the brakes as hard as I could, not even considering the bins stacked 4 high behind me. I was able to get stopped just in time..........for him to clip my front bumper. The truck barely shook but his car was crushed down the side, spun twice and thrown into the ditch. Everyone OK, but was chewed pretty good by the cop for trying to pass the big truck on the right side. Yes, blinkers were on and working.

Moral of the story....Lot of people out there that have no sense when it comes to driving...and....don't mess with a 103,000 lb truck.

Yea I thought those pics were kinda weird when I seen em 2 high .

Almost all the doubles around this part run em 4 high with overload signs

Kinda like a family friend here that got T boned when someone tried to pass him while he was turning into his driveway, eventhough he had his blinker on.

k1500,

Not quite as many straddle trucks as there used to be. To make a long story short, all the local warehouses have gone broke. The nearest large warehouse to us is about 60 miles away, and Trout-Blue Chelan where we go is about 90 miles, one way. The straddles were used mostly for shorter hauls, ie when you are close to the warehouse. Takes a bigger load than a straddle can carry to make the 90 mile an housr trip worth it. So, you see mostly flatbeds and dual trailer rigs.

Also, we have to haul two high when we are carrying a load, ie apples or pears. In the picture, we are at 102,500 roughly with a load of pears. If we were to go any higher, the man in the stand wouldn't be happy. Hauling empties, we throw the Oversize Load signs on and go 4 high. Pretty impressive.

MCourson,

Yeah. You just learn to watch those mirrors like mad and keep track of the rigs around you. And...know in the back of your mind that you are bigger than they are.

Yea with those stradles you can only carry I think like 36 but with the flats with doubles I think its about 60-70 loaded or somewhere in there .

Its about a 50-50 split here between stradles and flats with most of the big warehouses owning stradles

Also it doesnt take as much time to load / unload a stradle
