Headers

So I'm looking to do a full exhaust soon. Ive already decided on a Gibson Supertruck muffler. But the headers are still undecided. I'd like to go with long tubes. Who's had good experiences with what. Oh and CA smog legal would be nice too.

Arizona Speed and Marine LT's!! Not sure about them being CA smog legal. I think Gibson and JBA's shorties are.

There are quite a few people that I know swear by TOG headers.

Most of the shorty headers are smog legal in CA while the long tubes are now. If you do decide to go with long tubes TOGs and AS+M headers offer good quality and are very popular. The SuperMaxx headers are also a good choice if your looking to replace the Y-pipe and cats too.

Yeah...the supermaxx setup loks real nice. A little pricey at $1300 but considering you et a new y-pipe and hi flow cats...not terrible. OK, so forget the longs. Who makes the best shorty headers? Bassani? Gibson?

TOG's hands down, plus they can be ordered CA legal.

TOG's are OK (just OK), But they are not true performance headers; True in the sense as what I believe the origional poster of this thread was asking; Which I believe are equal length tubes (i.e. Long headers or Long pipes).

I purchased TOG's for my 2003 8.1 w/Allison. The TOG's are nothing more than shorty's, but the quality of materials, craftmanship and finish are, at the moment, second to none.

I am satisfied with them, but given the 496 heads breathing limitations, don't expect them to do anything for you. I noticed no difference, as measured by the seat of my pants. They look very very nice, but that's it. End of story.
