New 04 tailights on my 01 HD2500

I ditched the tailight lenses on my 01 Sierra and upgraded to the MUCH better looking 04 units. My local dealer was prepared to give me a deal at $118 each. I called my old F-Body parts guy at Vandevere Chevy/Olds in Akron, Ohio and he sold them to me for $78 each + $7 shipping. His name is Dal Slabaugh and I have dealt with him for a number of years. He does everything GM.

p.s. the units come complete with wiring and bulbs, all you have to do is plug them in. 30 minutes to install both.

Did you put the 04 Chevy tails on your truck?As far as I can tell the 04 GMC tails look identical

The Chevy 03, & 04 pickups have a differnt tailights. I do like the looks of them. My wifes 03 Tahoe has the same as the GMC. The Chevy PU lights do not have the amber lense in them!!!

Did the same upgrade on my 03 GMC a couple months ago and as you can see in the pics in my signature they make a big difference over the stockers. Bought the lights off the classifieds for $80 w/o harness, light pigtails and bulbs for the fourth light at AutoZone for $7. Turned around and sold the stockers for $60 on E-bay so I have less than 30min and $30 in this upgrade. Really cleaned the truck up!

Take a close look at the pre 2003 pickup taillight and the ones from a Tahoe, Yukon or Suburban. They are not identical. The red and amber lense areas are switched on the light surface. Also the Silverado taillight is narrower at the top than on the Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban.

If the 04 tail-lights are the same el-cheapo looking downgraded things that came on my 03, I gotta ask why you'd change.

The 02 and earlier are far better looking than the 03 (I'm gonna try to find some 01 to go on my 03.

Our '99 Chevy work truck is being spiffed up and restored. The tail lights are in perfect condition in all ways. I'd love to trade these tail lights for some '03 tailights. I'm in the minority.., I love the looks of the '03 Chevy's nose and the style of the tail lights.
