Trick to getting tailgate to release?

Same for me.  Cover has a gasket that allows the gate to open and close even when the cover is latched, and I've never had a problem with the gate opening when I ask it to.

 

Really sounds like something is wrong with your gate.  Make them fix it!

Mine started sticking again. Press the button and I hear the lock clicking, but door doesnt come down

The linkage inside the gate is too loose.  Mine only releases about one in 10-15 tries.  The plastic grommets that connect the thin metal rods have too much play and they won’t release the gate properly.  I took mine apart and made this discovery, but have yet to find a fix.  However, if I pull the linkages manually, it will release every time.
