Add leaf or Firestone air bags

Recommended Posts

Have a 19 Silverado HC, and need to either add a leaf or add Firestone air bags.

I only ever added a leaf. Made the truck more stable, planted feel, increased height an inch. Only con is the firmness sometimes makes in scary on icy roads over bumps.

Will the air bags give a little lift? I wouldn’t want any more than 1.5”. To make the truck drive much firmer I’m assuming I’ll have to keep the air bags filled.

I don’t have the z71 shocks and I can’t find any replacement shocks but I’m hoping to upgrade shocks as soon as there is availability

I use the air lift system on my truck they require about 5 lb of air at the minimum and I can put mine up to 50lbs it add up to 2 and 1/2 inches of lift possibly more but I trailer with it when I have it at the higher setting therefore it brings it back down a little bit

I had air lift bags on my last truck as well. As stated above the ones I had required 5psi minimum at all times and they were rated up to 100psi. At 75psi they lifted the rear end around 3 to 3-1/2”. I would highly recommend the air bags over the extra leaf. And get the on board compressor as well. I didn’t get the compressor at first but quickly regretted it and added it.
