2009 Brake Inspection

As you can see by my truck photo, I have the 2009 with the 20" Chrome Clad wheels.

I have been trying to inspect the front disc brake pad wear, with a mirror and flashlight.

I can see there is some pad left, maybe 3/16, but can't really get a good look at them.

Looking at the wheels from the inside even with a mirror, is about the same as looking from the outside.

Any suggestions other than removing the wheels and then checking the calipers.

Heading for 93,000 miles and the brakes work fine. No noises or pulling.

Nice looking truck!  Pull the wheels on one side at least, inspect the inner and outer pads and when you go to replace them, use the new ACDelco Drag Reduction Clips.  The slides have a rudimentary flat spring to push the pads off the discs but they get bent over time.  My gas mileage has increased by about 1/2 an mpg.  Don't forget to check the parking brake shoes.  Mine had some Yankee rust and we replaced the little screws that secure the rotors to the hubs/axles with new ones from Home Depot.
