i do not want to loose any of my bottom end ... i want to gain bottom to mid with improved gas miliage... i dont know if its possible but i figured i tell you want i wanted :wtf:

i would like a nice deep sound but, not overly loud in sound...

last night i was with a couple of buddies that i ride 4 wheelers with that went to different school and they introduced me to a guy that had a bad azz chevy it had everything i wanted on mine... besides the 6 inch lift .. he only gets 12-13 miles per gallon... (not good)

but anyhow on the flowmaster site 50 series sounded like crap... but the 70 series sounded good...

well on this guys truck he had single 50 series and it sounded great... much better than the site. but it was already installed on his truck when he bought it so he couldnt tell me if it helped it any or not...

then last night i went to Avalanch.com and they said they had really good luck with gibson single ... and it gave them more low end and mid range and had no promblem pulling...

then there were these guys with dual flows that said they pulled better with stock pipes... and thats not good...

i am really confused to what to get cause i dont want single all that much because it single... and duals straight out the back would be awesome looking but i much rather have performance i suppose..

so do you think i will be happy with 50 series single inlet and outlet mufflers ...

they were on ebay .. and i will get them for like 50 dollars i think...

can someone help me out my head is spinning to hard... :fume:

I'll give you my opinion on this, but remember that it's MY opinion...others may feel differently.

In general, you will probably experience better performance with a high-flow muffler and a single pipe out that's mandrel bent and about 3" in diameter. The flowmasters are decent in flow metrics, but there are others that flow more...again, thinking about performance only and not the sound. If you're going to tow very much, pipes that exit straight out the back are not recommended.

On my '99 ZR2, I have a FM40 non-deltaflow with dual 2.25" pipes and 3" tips. I like the sound and the performance is satisfactory. I may have lost a little low-end torque but I didn't notice it.

When I bought my '00 Sierra, it already had a dual exhaust which sounded pretty good but had really large tips. I ended up replacing the dual pipes with a single 3" mandrel-bent pipe in the stock location with a 3.5" tip. Looks cool, sounds good, pulls a little better.

It's basically deciding which you want more, performance or cool looks, and then making some compromises if you have to have both.

Good luck!

Most quality aftermarket catbacks or high flow mufflers will produce more hp and tq, but at higher rpms. You WILL lose some low end grunt, so if you tow heavy loads, stick with a single 3 inch mandrel bent pipe.

I personally wouldn't go with a flow 40 on my truck, I think that they are much too loud to drive around with everyday. They draw to much attention when you romp on the gas. I'm really want the gibson supertruck setup but I have heard that they are obnoxious as well. If anyone has heard the 40 series flows and the supertruck exhaust let me know how they compare noise wise. I want something aggressive but not real real loud.

to be honest i cant really hear mine in the cab. i got the jones muffler pipe 2 into one. i heard it on a 350 and they had another 350 with true duals beside it with flowmaster . and i likes the one that was on the other one so i told them to put jones on my truck.. its sounds pretty good when you start it up then the sound dies out. then when you get on it you can hear it. if i have it in 3 drive around 50 it makes alot of noise. i think it sounds pretty good.. but if i floor my truck you hear more motor than you do my new muffler set up .. i am planning on getting headers pretty soon .. thanks for all your help and opinions.. i sorta didnt get what you all told me i just got what i heard and liked.. but if i were you i would give jones a call .. sounds really good to me . i dont think it helped in mpg.

but i think it added more bottom end power along with some mid-range..

casue i used to be able to spin tires at the school parking lot .. but no smoke them off like i am now..... but it could have been a number of things.. cause its got cold and when i first got my truck i was really easy on it..

i am starting to get really easy on it again .. its hard though... its fun when you sit your passengers agaisnt the seat when you take off ..

or surprise someone that your fullsize truck can get a wheel.

Maybe you were being too easy on it or something, cause I can smoke my tires on my stock 5.3 at the drop of a hat! The way every truck should perform!!

Anyways....glad you are happy with the new exhaust. And just what in the heck is a "Jones" exhaust? I've never heard of it before. :D

Care to make a sound clip of your new exhaust to share with others?

    • Hey everyone, I recently had an issue with my 07 2500HD GMT900. My DRL’s stay on at all times. Right front turn and right mirror turn signal indicator stay on solid at all times. By “at all times” I mean the only way to make them go off is disconnecting the battery. I tore the headlight assemblies out, tried disconnecting the harnesses to eliminate bad wiring at the harness, I unplugged the headlight switch, no change and the mirror turn signal still stayed on. My first thoughts were : Bad bulb and/or socket somewhere, under hood fuse panel bad, bcm bad, tail light or trailer wiring problem, or some random short to power in the harness.  Possibly a bad ground but unlikely. I had a big clue in the fuse panel, it had a burnt smell. I started pulling every fuse that had to do with DRL or right turn/park lamp. Nothing made the right directional turn off but pulling the DRL2 fuse made the DRL’s go out.  After studying wiring diagrams, I found that both problems had that fuse panel in common, the bcm also controls both problems but knowing the fuse panel had a burnt smell I removed and disassembled the fuse panel and found a little corrosion on the printed circuit board.  I ordered a new fuse panel from Amazon for like $260. When it arrived I installed it, and put everything back together, the problem was fixed. I figured the fuse panel needed to be replaced anyway so that was a logical place to start. Hopefully this story helps someone in the future. Regretfully I didn’t scan for codes before I did everything.
    • That stinks. I’m sitting on the side of the road right now with the same issue. Never had an issue before taking it in for the ground strap recall. Now I’m outside of warranty and they’ll probably want $200 just to diagnose what they already “fixed”.
    • I wonder kind of nuts and bolts they will come up with next? Jim
    • “It should be recognized, however, that there becomes a point where fuel economy oils do not make much economic sense for the end consumer—we talk about a fuel saving of ~€100 compared to a risk of €1000 Euros if the oil is too thin and causes increased engine wear rates. However, the benefit of these oils accrues to the car manufacturers. If their vehicles can save 1–2% fuel by using a special fuel economy lubricant, then that OEM can drastically reduce the amount of fines they need to pay.”   I liked this and the following paragraph as well but it’s really only touching the beginning of the benefits OEMs see from spec’ing these oils. After you factor in “out of warranty” service work and new car sales when these engines fail before their time, it’s a good racket for them. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you!
