04Chevy2500HD Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=32826 Can anyone see anything that might come up buying that kit? I think it looks pretty good myself. -David
tmf6902 Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 It looks ok, I dunno, borderline "to good to be true". They've only been in business for a year, and they have some negative feedback. I dunno though, IMHO, I don't think I would buy, for some reason it sketches me out. Just looks to good to be true. Doesn't look like it has a tuner either, so you'll have to get a tuner and an antenna.
Wingnut Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 Looks pretty scammy to me too. I would email them, and ask exactly where they are in SoCal. Because you want to come by their shop and purchase directly, or just to look at it. (Tell them you live in San Diego or Riverside, etc.) 8000 sqft facility aint cheap in Southern California, and I doubt that a business that sells audio/video (not even name brand) equipment on Ebay would have that kind of capital. Just my .02.....Sounds fishy
chevy4x4trucks Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 I like the look of it, but it seems pricey... Can you get this same set up anywhere cheaper.
01Burb Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Looks OK to me. Slightly on the pricey side. You can get a 7" no name monitor now for $200 but that would be a TFT unit. Throw in $100 for the console and that's about right. I would question the seller to whether the screen is TFT of the older type. Makes a big difference in viewing. Wow! For someone wanting to do an in dash nav system, that would be the ticket. Wish I could get just the console. I wonder who makes that. His neg eBay feedback is minimal. Should be OK with 1800 positives.
chevy4x4trucks Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 I don't know where he pulls this 100 dollars for the dash panel. He is just replacing that front fascia piece which costs about 15 bucks from gm.
01Burb Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 Looks like he relisted since nobody bought any. I'd like just the plastic trim piece.
bigjeepinyj Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 Where could I get the entire dash panel? Would that fit in a silverado?
02 Blue Thunder Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 I saw that also. I like the looks but I too think it is a bit pricey for what it is. I tried finding the molded dash piece and have not been able to find it. If it came with dvd player it would be a perfect price for a truck. Kyle
hockeyruss Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 I bought one, it is very cheesey, but after the install it looks good. It is just a 7" tft monitor siliconed in a gutted face panel. You need to remove the slave cassette unit and the bracing that connects the lower console to the dashboard. I have it hooked up to a playstation 2 and my camcorder, with the sound going to my existing stereo via gm9-aux unit. We use it to watch movies thru the Playstations DVD on travel hockey trips and to watch game tape coming home. The kids also play video games thru it. The top section acutally came with a few small cracks in it, but I covered it in carbon fiber so it looks good. At first I thought why black when my dash is grey, but black hides the screen if you get pulled over, I believe that tv's in the front seat are illegal.
chevy4x4trucks Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 any chance you could take some close-up pics of it?
Taaaaaaahoe? Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 Actually you gus ara all saying how expensive this is. But I have been looking for months now to do a custom GPS deal. the LOWEST price I could find was 400$ for that setup, and that was only putting a 4.5 in screen in there! Thats really not a bad price if it is done well! Also depends onthe quality of the moniter, Id be curisous to know how good it is. Can you see it from many angles etc. If the moniter is good, and the install looks clean I would say its worth the$$ I have had qoutes for that thing range anywhere from 200 up to 800 and thats JUST for install screen is more. See this post! http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...6&hl=gps+screen SO how is this thing really?? How is the screen?? Mike
