2007 GMC Sierra SLT 6.0 Vortec Maxx

Hey all, new here just signed up. Looking to upgrade to a 2017 GMC Sierra SLT with the 5.3 All Terrain package. I currently have a 2007 GMC Sierra SLT 6.0 Vortec Max with 146k on her. Knock on wood, currently nothing is wrong. They are currently asking 37k for the 17 with 18k on it. Does anybody know how these trucks hold up? Any known issues? Should I hang onto my 07? Any known problems that will be coming? How does the new 5.3 compared to the 6.0? Thanks!

Do lots and lots of reading, many threads have recently come on these topics.

They are solid trucks, they all have their quirks and for the most part are trouble free if you take care of them.

The power and acceleration will be better than the 6.0 you had. The 6 speed transmissions are worlds better than the 4 speed auto's they used before in my opinion.

I highly suggest you test drive that truck or another truck that is using the same 5.3/6L80e combo so you can get a feel for it first.

That could happen with any truck. There are hundreds of thousands of these on the road so anything is possible. The majority are problem free but you hear about the bad ones from forums and so on.

I'm sure you could search and find similar things on a Nissan/Toyota/Ram truck or even random cars. If there is a possible problem, people have bitched about it already.

A 2017 truck with that low of mileage will still have maybe 2 years of warranty on it. Or even opt for a extended warranty to cover things that may happen.
