Sierra SLT Airbag Light

Recommended Posts

For starters, I have little automotive expertise. I know how to do things once I have observed how to do it. In other words, I don’t know about things but I know how to do things.

That said, I have a 2008 Sierra SLT and the airbag light has been on in addition to a service airbag message. I inquired about this when I took the truck for routine, 110,000 mile maintenance. The matter was investigated and I was informed that the SDM was faulty. Of course, this is a costly thing to have repaired at a dealership. I trust the mechanic I go to at an independent service station although I’d still rather not spend the money. Is it possible for me to replace the SDM myself? What should I expect to pay for parts and what would be involved in the process? If I were to go to my mechanic, what could I expect to pay in order for this to be done?
