Tech 2 Diagnostic scanner for Duramax engi

What is a good diagnostic tech 2 scanner for Duramax engines?

depends on the year.  older ones (more than 5 years or so old, don't know the exact cutoff point), a tech ii is the device to have, to both get codes and perform diagnostic procedures on it.  I believe a different device has to be used on newer ones, as the communication protocol changed.

 

I use Autogenuity w gm enhancement with my truck ('04 sierra with 6.0l gas), and it also can read codes from all the computers and perform a bunch of diagnostic procedures, and it's my understanding it works similarly on Duramax's, but I'm not sure if it can do everything a techii can do (in particular, I don't believe it supports reprogramming computers like the tech ii can).
