Sorta, but not really.

The computer can't fix the other fact that you bored the engine and made it larger in displacement.

Out of curiosity was this camshaft a 1 bolt or 3 bolt? If 3 bolt, a new 4x cam gear was used as well right?

Have you done a compression test and leak down test on the new engine rebuild?

Is the misfire at idle only or all the time at any rev range?

the stock cam was a 1 bolt. the new one is also 1 bolt. I see l33 cam is 3. what do you mean by 4xcam gear? it misfires more at idle. the mechanic said it builds compression. never did a leakdown test.

The 99-07 engines are 24/1x crank/cam trigger and the 07.5+ engines or GEN 4 engines are a 58/4x crank/cam trigger. When using a 3 bolt camshaft in a newer engine that use a 1 bolt camshaft a new 3 bolt 4x cam gear is required.

Being that you used a 1 bolt camshaft, that doesn't matter and I was just double checking about all was installed.

I'd just be pulling at straws now to try and figure out the problem. Not much I can say without having the truck in front of me with and watching data logs to see if anything is up.

The camshaft that is installed shouldn't be causing issues so long as it was installed right. If compression is good and it passes a leak down test, that's even better. A crank/cam relearn should have been done too.

Stay at or under a 212/218 cam size. Going larger can put in aftermarket stall territory.

Should be several cam choices at that size or just under.

Crank and cam relearns were done. So the smaller cam shouldnt be the problem.

It's not the camshaft, everyone that runs a stock AFM delete runs that cam. It's another issue. I have ran that cam on stock tune with AFM disabled with 0 issue, Did you verify correct timing?

A good tech 2 would go a long way. Is the truck a E85 (flex fuel) truck? Could be reading a different octane than it is running and the throttle body could also need called. You can calibrate both with a tech II.

anyone have good camshaft suggestions for more power mainly torque but not to lopey. also maintain stock convertor is a must for now.

if I changed the compression ratio would that cause the misfires?

Would have to be large difference in compression. With fuel injection it can adjust the air fuel ratio enough to run fine with a decrease or increase in compression.

Did you use a different head gasket or mill the block/heads to cause a drop increase?

I had the block bored .020 to fix taper in cylinders. used 862 heads instead of 243 which is a smaller cc size 62-65 roughly stock acdelco head gaskets. I bought the heads from a compamy on ebay that refurbishes them and it looks like they took some off the bottom too how much idk.

I assume you checked all clearance between valves and pistons during assembly? If you have a high compression you could be having a pre-detonation issue causing a ruff running condition. If you are good on clearance, Possibly try a higher octane fuel and test it and see what happens. If that resolves the issue, good for you. You will also want to be careful with high lift camshafts in the future as you could end up the a valve/ piston interference issue.

What is the PSI when you did a compression test?

Notes: 862 has some of the smallest valves of the LS heads. They will flow less than the old heads with high compression. Good chance they will clear but always good to check if block, head were decked and the pistons were swapped.

So i was looking at my ebay account and noticed the crank shaft sensor that i ordered and put in truck is from a early model silverado like 1999-06 so i ordered the correct one hope thats the difference since they are different size reluctor wheels.
