simple Posted October 12, 2003 Posted October 12, 2003 Do you think that a clay bar could get rid of water spots/acid rain that's etched into the clear coat? I've tried using just a paint cleaner followed by a polish and it didn't help. I think the only thing left would be to use a rotary buffer on it. Someone told me that a clay bar only gets rid of above the surface items, not below.
Import Hater Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 Clay bar is great for paint overspray and things that are above the paint surface. And acid rain etch will have to be rubbed out. To what extent...would have to be determined by how deep the damage is. Rob
JonesNTN Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 Clay bar will not help. Will have to be buffed out. Prevention is the key. After you get the bufffing done, avoid washing the vehicle in the direct sunlight, and also on very hot, or very windy days. Also remove the water after washing with a towel, chamois, water blade or even a leaf blower.
Bruce03Silverado Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 You could try a mixture of vinegar and water. I have seen that work and have done it myself.
