what happened to full-size 2 door SUVs?  i wish i could have gotten a bronco in 96 before the expedition ate it.  im actually getting angry at the SUVs that killed 2 doors.  i would love it if ford picked production of the 96 bronco up just like they left it off, not change a thing.  the 92-96 broncos were some of the coolest vehicles EVER!  i would get a black XLT with a 5.8 and auto in a second, i wouldn't even give any thought to another vehicle.   sadly my only hope now is to get a used one.  hopefully ford will at least build one, even if it is based off of the new trucks.  i also don't want to see it priced at $30K, i want at least cloth, CD, V8, and power stuff for no more than $23K.

im sure most of you feel the same way about Tahoes.  i would like to see the big 4 doors fade away and the 2 doors take over.  this would also be good because yuppies will not buy anything without 4 doors, so they may dissappear too.

I agree completely, I love the 2 door + removable roof full size SUV.  Although I prefer the old full size blazer/jimmy (up to 91), GM eliminated the removable roof from them when they redesigned them for '92 while ford kept the bronco true to its roots.  I would consider buying a Bronco if they still made them.

GM has taunted us with the tahoe K5 concept at auto shows, and it did have the extended cab type doors on it, but also had a removable roof.  It wasn't styled as good as the older blazer/jimmy (or even the bronco  ), but it had the right idea.  I hate it when they show the good concepts and don't follow through.

Well, a ten+ year old used Blazer is a lot cheaper than a new one, so I guess I can thank GM for that...

Actually 3 Possible designs were madeby Ford a couple of yearsago to attempt to revive the Bronco.

1. Superduty Chasis, w/2Doors and significantly shorter than the Excursion.

2. Superduty Chasis, w/ 2 doors and the now popular "Suicide" doors behind front doors, also consideribly smaller than the excursion.

3. The Traditional F-150 Style.

The drawings that I saw (They were in Truck Trend I believe) looked pretty good.

I'm with you guys, I like the 2 door f/s sport utes.  I remembered reading a while back about the fact that they sell very few of these, so they killed it off.  Catering to the masses again.  Just what we need, more larger SUV's for soccer moms.

same reason the mustang has lost it's only true competitor.  we have lost nearly all the great vehicles due to demand from the yuppies.

Paco, I think that is the opnly Ford I like.  The one I would build is in that movie w/ Charlie Sheen, can't think of the name if it right now.  But Flea and Anthony Kedis are driving it and roll it!  THat's a sick Bronco!

Sorry, no 2 door models for me.

I'm over trying to look cool, I need easy access and loading.

Two door models of any kind, even pickups, are on their way out never to return.  When you look at a dealers lot you don't even see many regular cab trucks, what would lead you to believe that people will go out and buy two door cars or SUVs?  Its not going to happen.

what im sayin is i don't care about the demand, i want a 2 door SUV.  if it has to be an explorer sport than so be it.  im unmarried with no kids, and i don't plan on changing that anytime soon, so i have no real reason for 4 doors.  if i needed 4 doors i could borrow my g/f's 4 door explorer.

besides, you really can't tell what will happen in the market.  some muscle cars are making their comeback in concepts that will likely make it to production.  why not 2 door SUVs?  the big 4 doors are just a fad that will pass in a couple of years leaving a place for 2 doors to take over.

I don't think 2-doors are really on their way out never to return.  It's obvious that they're not nearly as popular as they were 20 years ago, but there's still a significant market for them, and there always will be a market for 2-door work trucks, sports cars, and coupes.

Like what Paco was getting at, I don't think those of us who are saying we'd like to see 2-door SUV's are saying that they're economically viable for the automakers, we're just saying that they are something we'd like to see.  It may be just a niche market, but there is a market there, and eventually someone will realize that and cash in....I hope.
