Tow rating

My trail boss is currently saying its able to tow 7000lbs according to my dealer. but a regular z71 can tow 9650lbs. Which one is the right tow rating ?

Read your door/b pillar sticker when you open the drivers door. The info there will tell you the weight of the truck, the payload you can carry and the towing weight.

There is a sticker in the door seal telling you everything. 

 

My Trailboss LT Standard Bed has a GCWR of 15K

 

Subtract a fully loaded vehicle of 7K and that leaves 8k for a trailer with a Max tounge weight of 940Lbs

Any type of lift will reduce towing capacities.

Note that the tongue weight is part of the "fully loaded vehicle" weight, so you can't carry as much in the bed/cab (from that decal, it would reduce your payload to about 600 lbs, so you and two passengers...)
