New guy here with a small issue!

Been reading this forum for a little while and thought I’d introduce myself and post my issue at the same time since I didn’t see an introduction section.

 

So, my issue is the transmission whine (or so the dealer says it’s the transmission), it’s very mild but constant at idle and goes ugly whinny fast as you accelerate, it will keep up till it shifts to higher gears, than it kinda fades away, took it to the dealer twice and they convinced me that the whole series of these trucks including the Silverado have the same issue, they actually showed me a few trucks in the lot with the same annoying whining sound.

 

I come from a line of Chrysler trucks, vans and so on, my last pickup was a 2013 Ram which I absolutely hated the way that 6 speed tranny shifted.

This is my first GMC and I have to admit, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS TRUCK and everything about it (well most of it, except that whine) and I will probably never go back, with that said, these are the details of my truck:

2018 Sierra Denali 5.3L and 8 speed transmission.

Do any of you had/have this issue and did you do anything about? If so please shed some light.

Mine does it as well. It comes from the torque converter/ bell housing area. Figured I'll plan ahead for a rebuild.

You are correct, that’s the area it comes from, but honestly I wouldn’t want to wait if there’s another options besides, I hope we don’t have to rebuild anytime soon.

 

Just shy of 50K miles and was told the sound will slowly disappear past 25-30K miles, the shit dealers make to get rid of you
