I have a 2014 silverado 1500  with a 5.3l, I have the P06DD code, does anybody have any actual solutions for this problem? I have been searching and no one has seemed to actually found a definite reason for this code or solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mine had the same problem. It’s the engine oil pressure switch gauge. It’s like 50$ part from online, which you want to make sure the kit includes the sensor AND the filter screen for it, otherwise you’ll get the same code in no time. The worst part is the labor for it. It’s from build up of carbon in the engine that “gunks” up the oil and gets trapped on the filter sending a code for “stuck in off position”. I looked around and older GM’s you could have done the labor yourself though kinda tough. The 14 like I have, it just so happens to be inside the engine, right below the headers somewhere, which only makes the labor that much more expensive. Overall I’d look around at pricing on replacing the sensor and filter. Bulk of price is almost completely labor related. Mine would come on and off, once I did some work on the truck luckily it just so happened to free up and now is never on. Most people with this problem will see their check engine light come on and off(on more often than off). Hope this could get some insight.

I found 14 TSB's related to that code...Are you having any other conditions or codes at the same time? A little more information might help the folks on the forum here to think about what your problem is...

I have the 14 and am right at 133,000 miles and just recently got this code, it is off now.  2 fill ups ago I used a fuel additive (STP type stuff) which I have never done prior to this.  From reading these comments, I am thinking that possibly the additive cleaned up some of the carbon build up and has caused the "gunk" to get trapped on the filter and may have triggered the code.  Is this possible or more of an unrelated coincidence???

I have a 2014 with the code P06DD.  Had the vehicle serviced twice to clean it up and replace oil sensor. The P06DD is still showing. After some searching I discovered SB-10080702-2280  https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/SB-10080702-2280.pdf

Subject: Models: Service Bullet,in PRELIMINARY INFORMATI01 N Code P06DD No Or Low Oil Pressure

2016 Cadillac CTS-V

2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade

2016 Chevrolet Camaro

2014-2016 Chevrolet Corvette

2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado

2015-2016 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe

2014-2016 GMC Sierra

2015-2016 GMC Yukon XL

Built with RPO's 4.3L 5.3L 6.2L L83 L86 L T1 LT4 LV3

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this Pl.

Condition/Concern Bulletin No.: PIP5407

Date: Jun-2016 Vehicle setting code P06DD, no or low oil pressure, oil control valve may be stuck off commanding high oil pressures (95 psi) and or oil pump face may be damaged.

Recommendation/Instructions Tensioner spring in timing chain guide may be "short" not fully seating into guide pivot end. Cycling Oil Pump Control Valve will not cause changes in oil pump response.

1) Short spring not reaching the pivot. Replace timing chain tensioner guide. If oil pump face is damaged and or worn thru replace oil pump. Inspect bearings for damage wear due to debris from oilTensioner spring in timing chain guide may be "short" not fully seating into guide pivot end.

This is a major issue with a very large repair bill of $1500 to $2000 USD.

    • Here's the second UOA on my 22 Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This has 5k miles on AMSOIL Signature Series DEO 5w-40. The first one was dealer installed oil, no clue what it was, the second is what AMSOIL recommended, European FS 5w-40, Most of the Ecodiesel world is showing great results using the European MS 5w-40, I figured I would see how the DEO works. This is using an Ecoguard oil filter. It's my understanding this engine likes to shed aluminum.  We will see. So far I don't think this is too bad.
    • I'm surprised nobody seems to offer a solution like the start/stop device I put in my new truck. Remembers my setting when shutdown. And while it still starts up in start/stop, it stores/evaluates what mode it was in when shut down and will change it whithin a second or 2 of startup. It'd be nice to have something like that for the DRLs.
    • 2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!
    • I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.
    • An ultra wealthy man had the most beautiful daughter. But, there was a problem. Everything she touched would melt in her hands. No matter what, Metal, Wood, Stone. Anything she touched would melt. She could not feed herself. Because of this, men were afraid of her. Nobody would dare marry her. Her father was despaired. What could he do to help his daughter? He consulted doctors, scientists and anybody who could solve this problem. Finally one of them said, "If your daughter touches one thing that does not melt in her hands, she will be cured." He was overjoyed and came up with a plan. The next day, he held a competition. Any man who could bring his daughter an object that would not melt in her hands would be given billions of dollars to marry her. Three extremely intelligent and handsome young men took up the challenge. The first brought a very heavy steel rod, But alas, when the she touched it, it completely melted in a matter of seconds. He sadly went away. The second brought a beautiful diamond, knowing diamonds were one of the hardest substance in the world and would not melt. But alas, once she held it in her hand, it melted. He too was sent away disappointed. So now, there was one left He was very nervous & sweating. He approached the daughter & said, “put your hand in my pants pocket and feel what is in there." She did exactly what he asked. She felt something very hard. She held it in her hand, squeezing it as hard as she could. It did not melt & remained extremely hard. Her father was overjoyed. Everybody was overjoyed. She was finally cured. Nothing never, ever melted in her hand again. They married and they both lived happily ever after, raising a wonderful family. Question: What was in the the groom’s pants pocket??? Answer below ↓ M&Ms of course! They melt in your mouth, not in your hand. What on earth were you thinking?
