For all the older guys and gals out there, Springfest will hit Pensacola this weekend. A lot of the old goodies are coming:

Jethro Tull

Bonnie Raitt

Kansas

Dickey Betts

A lot of newer music as well. I'll be watching Tull on Saturday and taping The Winston!

Jethro Tull    The only successful use of a flute in rock & roll.  :D   (That I know of  :)  )

With the exception of "Stariway To Heaven" that is.   :D

I would love to see Dickey Betts.

The Allman Bros. used a flute too insome of their songs. But they might not be considered "Rock". :)

Well, I wouldn't mind seeing 2 out of those 4 bands.    Have fun Dan.

While I like classic rock a lot, that list really doesn't do it for me.

My classic rock likes:

ZZ Top

Skynard

Zepplin

Boston

All Right!! The old guys came out of the closet!

Unfortunately, Skynerd and Zeppelin ain't ever gonna happen again. Lynerd Skynerd did try a come back, but without Ronnie Van Zant, there just wasn't much to show.

Enjoy the show!!  We have an ampitheater about 45 min. from here that gets some good shows, but not quite the "billing" that you are getting...  enjoy!!!

Two years ago I went to a Skynard concert and enjoyed it a lot.  It may not have been the complete original band, but it was still a damn good time.

What ABB songs have a flute.  I have tons of their albums and didn't know that, or either I've forgotten.  I want hear them now.   And yes they're rock.  One of the greatest rock bands ever.

Skynard is playing near here this summer, they play near here at least every other year.  I saw them in 95, it was OK.  But I'm not a big Skynard fan, so it may have been awesome for the fans.

Elwood, It may not be a flute, but it sounds like one.

The one I know for sure has one in it, I don't know the Title of the song, but it goes "Fire in the mountain, lightning in the air, there's gold in them hills and it's waiting for me there".

####, it may not be that Allman Bros. I'm thinking of, but I'm pretty sure it's them.

Oh yeah!!  I also miss Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Hendrix, Eagles, The Who, BTO, The Allmans - I could go on and on.

I understand why the younger generations think us "old farts" and our music are anachronistic, cause music is tied to what you were doing at the time when songs and bands were hot, as well as the social and cultural climate.

But hey, why overanalyze it!!!  I just love that old sh**!   :)  :D
