Extra $ for me?

I think I have a good opportunity doing a little sales work on the side.  I've got a good sales background, so I know I could do this.  My question is, for you home owners, would you be interested in getting rid of those old landscaping timbers, and plastic edgings and investing in decorative concrete borders.  They can be run along walkways, landscaping and driveways.  They can be put just about anywhere...

 

A good friend of mine has an established business making these formed borders that can be colored and stamped with various designs.  They aren't cheap, so I'm asking your opinion as to whether I should try to spend some free time getting involved?

They look nice, that's for sure.  If I didn't live in Base housing, I would possibly be interested in something like that, depending on price, and how many I needed.  How "not cheap" are they?  :thumbs:

By the way,  I'm not trying to sell them to you guys on the forum...  I'm just trying to get a feel of the market place.

I really don't know the pricing yet, but I think the average home owner would have about a grand in them.  

 

I think they are about 4-5 dollars a foot....  but I'm not positive...

 

He can even mold lighting into them...  

 

They're not something I could use but he is very busy in Cleveland/Pittsburgh/ and Anderson NC

Looks really nice.  Probably would sell well down here.  I might be interested in that stuff, but.....  Mod house, mod truck, mod car, hobbies......such hard choices. :thumbs:

Shaners, is this like a franchising thing where they set you up as the local sales manager, then you sell the product and call them to do the install?  

 

I mean, if there's minimal investment, heck, they look nice, and maybe you could get into it and see how it fits (so to speak) ?   :thumbs:

 

Something like that would probably fly in this town, (and others I suspect) as long as it's sold, installed, and supported professionally.

He has sold a few franchises, but they are in charge of their own business, and of course he would take in some of the profits for a few years.

 

What he would like me to do is just use some of my connections and drum up some work for him.  His wife and sister do most of the sales work (home shows etc.. ) right now.  I would be under no obligation to him, and he would pay me a straight percentage of every job I sell.

 

If I felt like I needed a little extra cash this month then I could help my buddie out and vica verca...

As long as you have the right number of contacts, and you don't mind networking, seems pretty good to me, at least what I am hearing here.

It looks nice. If I was a homeowner and doing a landscaping project, I'd look into something like that.

But I agree, at 4-5 shemolians a foot, it ain't cheap.

      Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.

      Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?

      Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.

      Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.

      I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
