Block heater??

Im my manual, it says it's on the frame rail by the power steering resivoir. I can't seem to find it on my '02 Z71 Sierra. Is this a diesel only option?? The manual didn't say either way. Would sure be nice to have a warm engine and faster heat inside if I do have one! Anyone have any thoughts??? Eric

I would just look for something like a cord coming out of the engine block and follow it to where it is tied up on the frame rail .

Those block heaters come in handy mine is plugged in right now brr this d**n cold weather d**n 10 degree nights and its not even winter yet

HOT........Look in your glove box for your RPO list.

Look for K05 .

That is the code for engine block heater.

It is a stand alone option avail. on most/all GM trucks.

I know exactly what you mean....I supposedly have one on mine, but I have yet to find it???? I even checked my list of options when the truck was ordered, it's on there, but I don't see it in my truck......O well

On both my trucks I found it to be neatly tie-wrapped to brake-line tubing on the right hand side. Look through the wheel well and browse around behind the plastic shrouding material.

i found my blockheater only because i was under the vehcle looksing at the air dam because its broke

I am presently looking for mine... And have yet to find it. I have looked all over for it. If anyone has a picture of where theres is located on there 03-04 let me know...

Mine was neatly tie wrapped inside the front wheel driver side towards the front of the wheel well. I know this beacause I found it by accident. I live in Canada so they all pretty much come from the factory with one unless you specify not too I think. I never use mine and in case anyone was wondering my truck starts just fine in -30 celsius. Plus I hate the idea of driving away with an electrical device hanging from my truck. My suggestion if you want a warm truck in the morning. 1. Park it where it is not windy ( windchill is what makes it cold, I work outside and it's always warmer when there is no wind ) 2. Go start it and let it go through it's cold start sequence, I wonder if warm oil running through a cold engine is good for it). 3. Go back inside and get wait 5 minutes ( mine is always warm in five minutes )

By the way ain't it nice with big engines that they stay warm so long

Actually windchill will not affect the temperature of your truck. Wind chill refers to the additional evaporative cooling effect that occurs on your skin. When you perspire, the sweat evaporates and lowers the temperature of your skin. Since your truck does not have a film of water on it all the time, it will stay at the same temperature as the air no matter how windy it is.
