randykrol Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Is it safe to assume that any rear differential from 88 to 98 will interchange as long as it's in the same class (1500, 2500, 3500) and 2wd or 4wd? I have a 1990 Silverado 2wd drum brake 3.42 non locking 10 bolt under mine. I would like to know which rearend will bolt up to mine. Preferably one with disc brakes and a 3.73 gear with a locker.
CamGTP Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 As far as I know if you got yourself another 1500 rear axle of that same era, it will just bolt right in. I don't recall them ever having rear disc brakes on the 1500's though. You may be looking into the NBS body style trucks from 1999-2002 for factory rear disc. I'm not sure if the shock locations and spring perches are in the same exact spot though.
