Fuel consumption

Recommended Posts

When we first bought our Avalanche new in 09 I'm pretty sure on DIC fuel usage per 100kms was about 13.6,liters don't ask what conversion is,but now shows 14liters per 100kms.120,000 miles these motors or maybe all motors relax a bit so some extra fuel consumption is expected?yes or no.Any thoughts appreciated.

What is the real mileage when you hand calculate it?

General maintenance could gain you MPG if nothing has been done in the past. Like cleaning the MAF, new spark plugs and that sort of stuff. I'd have my scan tool hooked up looking for other weird things with fuel trims and if the alcohol content is matching up with the pump content if the truck was flex fuel.

I was having a bit of a senior moment when I forgot to mention my Superchips Cortex tuner is able to disable DOD to supposedly save my lifters, and it is a O code flex fuel motor. So I have disabled DOD as well as have a tuner value tune on engine and trans/shift points, now I should clarify that my economy by the fuel gauge doesn't really alarm me 'cause it doesn't seem to be really all that bad for city driving lately and through the winter/cold  temps.MAF cleaned about 12-15,000 miles ago, plugs wires about 50,000 miles ago, yeah maybe I could clean throttle body, pull plugs, oil is changed typically at 5000mi Castrol full Syntec 5w30 with ACDelco EOS for said lifters that had s slight tick last winter.I don't have scan tool for trims. Thanks CamGTP for your input.
