Service Mode/Placing Transmission in Neutral

Recommended Posts

Just found out that you can put the truck in the service mode, which allows you to place the transmission in neutral without starting it, so you can move/push the truck. Might have missed a post on this, but figured I throw it out there. Get into the service mode by pressing and holding the engine start/stop switch for more than 5 seconds without pressing the brake pedal. The dash board lights will come on and your good to go. To turn the mode off, just press the start/stop switch again without pressing the brake pedal and the truck will be in the off position.

I haven't tried this yet, but that's different than what I have in my 2019 manual, Page 240:

Are the instructions different for a single speed transfer case?

You’re looking at the transfer case instruction for neutral, I’m referring to the service mode which is on page 222 or right around there. Putting the truck in service mode by following the instructions allows you to place the transmission in neutral without having to start the truck. Hope this helps.

Oh cool, I must have missed that! Thanks for the tip.
