Hey guys I’m new to this site, figured I would ask around about quality parts for a performance build. I’m looking into replacing the intake manifold, fuel pump, rails, injectors, and throttle body. Also getting some headers for it and new high flow cats. What are your suggestions?

You would be very foolish to replace parts that you have no need to replace.

 

Not knowing the limitations of those parts isn't a way to dive into this build of yours.

 

Just for some information for you here is why.

 

The factory intake manifold flows a ton of air, likely way more than you will be able to work with if the engine says naturally aspirated.

 

The fuel rails are not a choke point, you could make triple the stock horsepower of a 5.3 with those fuel rails.

 

Injectors support a lot of power from the factory. 5.3 flex fuel injectors support an easy 100-150hp over stock. Stock 6.2 injectors support even more horsepower.

 

Factory fuel pump is the same thing, it can support more than factory power and the flex fuel pump can do 500+ horsepower.

 

The throttle body isn't a choke point until well over stock power, doubtful you'd outflow that one either.

 

 

 

 

So if you ask me, just do your headers and leave the rest alone. If you want more power from there you will need to get a tune done and dig deeper into the engine. Like a camshaft swap for more power.

Thanks for the information, this is my first time doing any sort of a build on a vehicle. I figured all that would have to be replaced eventually because I would to have the truck turbocharged. I wasn’t aware that the stock components could handle that. And yes I was also looking into a cam swap because I’ve been told that since the truck has AFM the stock cam and lifters could mess with any gains that I try to get. But anyways I have it scheduled to be tuned next week to the new intake and exhaust
