05 2500 no power towing my boat

Hey guys I got a 05 2500 6L tows the boat perfect until I pull the boat out of the launch ramp first gear goes up to about 2,500 and stays there like it has no power I bought the truck about a year ago and noticed they had a receipt for a new torque converter do you think they got a crappy torque converter

You have to do some actual diagnosis to figure out what the problem is.  Anything else is just guessing.

check and see what your maf and o2's are reporting when you pull it out
