99 Burb Fuel Pump Quick Disconnect

Experiencing difficulty replacing the fuel pump in the 99 Suburban. The plastic nipple would not easily release from the steel quick connect (QD). The nipple broke off in the QD, after an several hours of tinkering and cussing it finally released  but two small o-rings   a few pieces of plastic and a thin steel washer or two came out with it.  

 

I am not sure how to address this issue. Does the fuel line need to be replaced? Is there a rebuild kit for the QD? Can I cut and the braided rubber line and splice it to a nylon QD? Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
