HMI module

So our “screen” went blank and the radio control buttons on dash stopped working. XM radio would play but only able to control with steering wheel buttons. And, after several minutes the XM radio would go dead as well. 
backup camera also not working. 
 

took in and told it was a faulty HMI module. 
told this will cost $1100! 
2016 suburban, 84k miles. 
have extended service contract “comprehensive “ but denied when requested from dealer!! WTH?! 
 

So, I’m not too keen on spending that much cash. 
anyone know if this sort of repair can be done by others? Car audio installers, etc.?

Have you looked into junk yards? Try car-part.com. I believe it’s fairly easy to replace.

Seems basic and may not  work but worth a try......had the camera go out on my '16 and it worked for me.

 

Try pulling the RDO fuse for about a minute and replace to force a hard boot on the radio head and attached modules.
