Gm Downgrade braking?

I thought one of the big selling points of the Allison was the grade braking. I just found out all GM vehicles have it. The emotion controls system that GM uses has grade braking in it, like the allison, it sensing you going downhill, braking and other stuff and automatically downshifts for you. Anyone else know that?

Click the following link, scroll down to emotion transmission features, then choose downgrade braking.

I also learned on another one of GM's sites that Hydramatic (GM) makes BMW's tranny 5L40-E

Nope - the eMotion description lists all the possible features available through the electronic powertrain management system - many of these are optional features on some vehicles, not available on others, or only with certain engine/transmission/option packages.

Rob, are you sure its only some. On the site it says "in a GM vehicle" not "in some GM vehicles" :sigh:

Thanks,

Well, perhaps it is getting widerspread than I thought. It is definitely being phased in top the new models. The obvious Allison in the HD pickups but also in the Saturn Ion with 5-sp auto in 2003 model year using a European spec auto tranny. The latest Caddy tranny has it too. But the older front-drive transaxles and rear-drive truck tranny's don't have it.
