2006 Siverado 4.3L throttle response

I just bought a 2006 Silverado 1500 4x4 work truck with the 4.3L V-6.  It has the traditional throttle cable between the pedal and the throttle body. I notice that when the engine is cold there is some lag in throttle response. I've heard the computer does this on purpose.  Just wondering if it's common. Thanks!

Check the spark plugs,rich running when in warm up,plugs might not be able to handle it,age
