I'm trying to find out if these trucks have the thermal restrictions as prior years?  I do notice that the trans runs about 205 Degrees "without towing" here in Florida which seems a bit hot.  I'm looking at two options if so, this https://lincodieselperformance.com/shop/ols/products/ldp-l5p-trans-cooler-bypass-valve   OR  This https://revmaxconverters.com/product/allison-1000-l5p-transmission-cooler-thermostatic-bypass-upgrade/

I have towed my bass boat now over 2000 miles.  The highest I have seen my tranny temp was 179.  Climbing a long grade.  Usually runs about 148.

I have wondered the same thing, and did do a little research. The GM parts house shows a thermostatic valve, so it may be, most likely is, or very similar. I have not had the time to dig into front end to actually see it. Did make some calls and was told the replacement valve was the same? but that was after asking other workers if the valve was the same... so when i get the answer without the feeling it is a guess and not a positive fact i am going to investigate a bit more.... Besides if i take off the grill and get that far in I want to replace something!
