4.8 manual

Anyone else have any problems with their manual 5 speed in a 4.8 V8. Mine has never shifted well into 1st or 3rd.. sometimes at a stop lights it feels like it is in first but when you try to take off it jumps out. Dealer says they can't find any problem.. A week ago it jumped out pulling into traffic and after panicky moment got it back in gear gassed it hard to get out of the way of oncoming, hit second pretty hard and then missed third. The clutch exploded. Took it to the dealer and they said it was not covered under my extended warranty because clutches are wear items and mine had 55,000... I contacted GM they called the dealer then sided with the dealer, too bad cost me $900.

I think it is crap because I have owned mostly manual vehicles and never had a clutch go bad before 75,000 and never had one disinegrate before. The clutch on the S-10 I had before, which I abused by overloading it regularly, lasted to 110,000

Hmmm, sounds like the clutch problem could have been influenced by the tranny problem (or vice versa?) but anyway, would synthetic fluid help shifting? I was thinking about changing the fluid in my 5-spd (V6) since I also have a slightly hard time getting it into first and some days it just dosent go into any gear as smooth as I think it could. I have NEVER had mine jump out of a gear though and the only real problem has been when coming to a stop and shifting into first it will kick the shifter back at me (clutch in, 5mph or less).
