Replacing shocks

Recommended Posts

I'm about to replace the stock Rancho Shocks on my 2017 Silverado. The back is straight forward. On the front, can I replace just the shock or should I replace the whole assembly? I stopped at the local mechanic this morning to see if he could compress the springs and install the new shocks in the struct for me. He suggested I replace the entire assembly with a quick struct. He suggested that because they would come with new bearings and a new plate. Does this seem right? Can I replace just the shock?

Thanks

Fronts are STRUTS rears are SHOCKS. You can replace just the front struts and keep the factory spring. I suggest purchasing new top plates for the front struts. Suggesting a quick strut is meh. Your better off buyin into the lift and level crowd even if you don't need the lift and set to zero.
