Just picked up a 2017 Sierra 1500 4WD Double Cab SLT (5.3, 6 speed auto, 3.42) with most of the bells and whistles available optioned.

Going to take a while to figure out the full tech capability and what each button and dial does.

Son, brother, ex-husband, father of four, grandfather of two.

Traveled all 50 on business and for pleasure.

This looks like the place to be as far as GMC truck forums are concerned.

Thanks to the site folk for what they do.

First order of business and so far so good using search, is to find a metallic roll up tonneau cover that will work with the roll bar on bed rails and a nice locking tool box to securely attach to rear of bed to be used as trunk.

So the reason I went with the bakflip is because it's sturdy and I hope will hold up in the winter not break if I need to flip it open at -40f also lets me use the whole bed.

the roll up kits will be using the space you normally would put the tool box.

Now the next option if you still want the roll up is there are flip out tool boxes that will mount towards the rear and form around the wheel well

And there are also the slid out boxes that seem like a good idea I've seen a few good diys on YouTube that makes this seem awesome but still not sure a fit for me.

The bakflip is popular enough that other brands make headache racks and ladder racks and such to work with it also and I'm hopping if flipping all them up still gets in the way that like it says or i read somewhere that it's easy to take it off
