Service Trailer Braking System

Recommended Posts

I have a 215 Tahoe LT with Max Trailer Package which includes Integrated Electronic Brake Controller.   I have towed my Travel Trailer for the past 5 years with no issues with this system.  Recently while not towing my DIC has brought up the following message on an intermittent basis " Service Trailer Braking System".   When a connect to my trailer it works normally and brakes work as they should.  Anyone else having a similar issue?

Check your trailer brake fuse. This happened to me after a friend tried to unplug a trailer from my Yukon. He pulled up at weird angle and apparently shorted something. I got that error message and found that the fuse was blown. It's a strange slow-blow fuse that I couldn't find at a parts store, but the dealer only charged me $2 for it. All was well after that.
