Not So Good Day for Me Yesterday Either

Stopped at the grocery store for a 6 pack on my way to get the AC connection in my camper fridge tested.  Opened the truck door and there was gas all over the ground under the tank.  Called GM Roadside assistance (very accomodating by the way).  The truck with the camper on it was flatbedded to the dealer.  Needless to say I was a wreck watching that process.   :(  The top of the tank was wet and the gas only came pouring out when the truck was running.  Gas line, fuel pump, sending unit?  Just a big PITA.  Got a rental from the dealer since I was stranded and GM Roadside Assistance said they would pay for it.  Driving a Kia Rio - Wheeee  Haaaaa!  What a ride - I feel like Fred Flinstone.  ???

That sucks.  I've had a gas leak before at a gas station while I was filling up....except Triple AAA wouldn't come tow my car until the fire dept. came and declared it a non hazard...and at the same time I started leaking tranny fluid from the front end :( Talk about a bad day and being a wreck...on top of that, being embarrased for having the fire crew come to the gas station (the leak wasn't even that bad, but I still didn't want to drive).

As far as the rental, they always give the worst little cars   How do they expect you to go from a big truck to a tiny little beer can on wheels?

GM Roadside Assistance asked me if I called the Fire Department.  By that time the puddle was about 3 X 5 feet, the leak had stopped and the evaporation process had already begun.  I told her I didn't think that was necessary pretty much because I didn't want the embarassment of that (i'd already attracted enough attention by crawling under the truck with a dress on  )  The tow guy didn't have a problem with the gas puddle, so I guess it was alright.  I'm just lucky it didn't happen last weekend when I was towing my horse trailer.  THAT would have been really bad.

The service tech called and said they dispatched my truck to Heavy Duty Truck Service because of having to put it on a lift w/the camper.  I guess their lifts are bigger, 4 point ones.  No word yet as to the problem.  As far as the car goes, it's ok.  I'm just glad to have something to drive.  My own little car is in the garage too - needs about $600 worth of work.  Thank god my truck is under warranty.  When it rains, it pours!

Gas and Tranny leak at the same time  :( , my heart bleeds for you.  That's awful!

Hey Y'all - Should have my truck back tonight with a new tank seal kit and new hose clips installed!

Apparently the maroon's (at a different dealership) who replaced my sending unit back in January (which they thought would fix my fuel gauge problem) "forgot" to put the clips back on the hoses. :(

If there's anyone on the board from the Capital District Area of New York State (Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Saratoga) who is interested in which dealer mucked this up, send me a personal email.
