Quiet Engine Survey!

OK, we have all read the posts on CSK and Piston Slap.....lets get some feedback from those of us out there with quiet motors! I am REAL curious just how bad this really is across the spectrum of us members here.

 

Year and Engine and Mileage please.

 

2003, 4.8L, 11,000 miles.....quiet as a mouse.

1999, 5.3, 100,800 miles, absolutely quiet.

Knocks on startup since about 30k miles. I found that the FRAM filters with the PTFE additive helped quiet the motor down. No kidding, I tried it for kicks last year and the knock on start up immediately quieted down. I have been using these filters ever since.

 

2001 Silverado LS Z71 5.3L 74,000

Only knocked during first 1,600 km / 1,000 mi. Changed to Mobil 1, no more knock.

 

2000 GMC, Vortec 5.3, 58,978 km / 36,647 mi
